Zorro legendája (2005)

angol The first part very pleasantly felt like a Spielberg adventure, whilst the second has almost nothing in common with it. The plot is like a cheap parody, the twists and turns are laughable, there are only three action scenes, only the first one was decent, Antonio Banderas' jealous creation is downright impossible.... Yes, it looks nice and James Horner composed some nice music, but it's a two-hour bore with a few bright moments.___P.S. It wasn't until last year that the top-notch The Lone Ranger showed everyone what a western and a funny and action-adventure spectacle for the whole family with a masked avenger in the lead role should look like.

Szerelmi fészek (1923)

angol The ship's deck and hold don't provide much room for Keaton's super-acrobatic antics, but that doesn't mean you won't laugh, quite the contrary. And there are even puns (yes, puns in a silent film).

A leigázottak bolygója (1976) Boo!

angol Any one of the dumbest episodes of the oldest possible Star Trek is better than this borefest. The acting talent and beauty of Jana Brejchová was a waste for such rubbish.

A pláza ásza (2009)

angol Kevin James is entertaining and thankfully doesn't play the main character as an annoying jerk, but as a nice sensitive underdog and good guy with a sense of principle. Plus, he's lucky to have the endearingly cute Jayma Mays, with whom he gets along very well as an actor. Good so far. Actually, the idea of making the second half of the film a variation on Die Hard isn't bad at all. Unfortunately, the humor in this part of the film becomes somehow more awkward and uninteresting, thanks to the extremely unfunny and stupid band of robbers. It’s too bad, as this could have been a really relaxing affair. Three and a half stars.

Fair Play (2014)

angol A very good film with two quite crucial "buts" for me, which I will describe in a slightly spoilerish P.S. Fair Play is filmed with ease, the period atmosphere is good and Judit Bárdos is absolutely great in the lead role. Surprisingly, I also liked Aňa Geislerová this time, who gives a very civil performance. It's a compelling, sad story that wants to make the viewer think, and I hope it will lead as many of them as possible to that conclusion.____Slightly spoilerish P.S.: I didn't like the fact that the mother and the coach didn't also involve the doctor in their plan to secretly administer the stromba to her daughter, because then there would be no risk of her "telling" (which is what happened). I'm also quite fed up with StB plots that always start, run and end the same way.

Ráz a ház (1922)

angol An unnecessarily long slapstick, if the second half had been half as long, it wouldn't have mattered at all. The exhibition of inventions was perfect, but in The Scarecrow (two years earlier) the house was even better furnished – and without electricity.

Feledés (2013)

angol Lots of mysterious promises, but (mainly because of the stupid trailers) few surprises, lots of questions, but few answers (i.e., few answers that don't feel like they've been hastily pulled out of thin air)... Fortunately, everything is impressively crafted, the design of all the machines, buildings and weapons is a joy to behold, Tom Cruise is likeable, whilst the music is pleasantly meditative, though nothing memorable. Three and a half stars. I preferred Elysium, which didn't try to be something it wasn’t for most of its duration.

A játékszer (1976)

angol A sombre but very good comedy with a message that is still true inside. Pierre Richard's performance is superb, and Francis Veber's script lets his talent shine through in many ways.

Szomszédok (1920)

angol So many ideas in seemingly just seventeen minutes, and just when you think you've seen the best of it, something even better arrives. Hats off.

Hard Luck (1921)

angol From a failed suicide to a similarly unsuccessful fisherman, an even more unsuccessful hunter, a slightly more successful protector of the weak, and finally a jumper who... You have to see it. The twist is brilliant.
