Blade Runner 2049 - 2048: Nowhere to Run (2017)

angol The film has unfortunate editing and its climax is exactly the type of visually captured action that I do not like. However, as pure malevolence that entices a film that isn't, Scott's short is acceptable. Those who were lured by Bautista and his wrestling moves had to cross the threshold of despair many times while watching Blade Runner 2049 because Villeneuve's film represents the complete opposite of Scott's effort. Overall impression: 55%.

Blade: The Series (2006) (sorozat)

angol From a filmmaker's perspective, only the first installment of the film series holds up, while the second one had a silly script but still had a charismatic hero and decent action scenes. I wisely avoided the third one and instead watched all three episodes of the TV series. It is just a mishmash that capitalizes on the success of the film series with a hero who is literally the opposite of what a Blade fan would imagine, with a sterile plot and zero atmosphere. A waste of time. Overall impression: 20%.

Blanche, a bosszúálló angyal (2002) Boo!

angol I assume that it did not take a long time to find a suicide victim who was tough enough to direct such a despicable film. The screenwriter was probably tasked with writing a screenplay where absolutely everything happens, and with a large dose of hallucinogens in his blood, he more or less succeeded, resulting in a strange, unbelievably stupid film where characters from Dumas' novels, drug dealers, and pseudo-heroes with various sexual perversions appear side by side. The dialogues are incredibly stupid, and I'm surprised the actors didn't get red in the face during them. The actors are the only interesting thing that Blanche has, but Jean Rochefort was probably so old that senility was starting to affect him, or he foolishly lost his lifelong savings and couldn't make ends meet with his pension... Gérard Depardieu probably needed to pay for one of his stays in rehab or weight loss, so their presence serves as a cover for this embarrassment, which is a waste of time even for lovers of the cheapest forms of entertainment... Overall impression: 5%.

Blázni a děvčátka (1989)

angol Fools and Girls represents Kachyňa's second journey into the past of proletarian Žižkov. After Love Between the Raindrops set in the 1930s, Kachyňa has now moved in time to the 1950s. Yet in the lives of his film characters, he has returned from the period of adolescence and first loves to seemingly carefree childhood experienced among peculiar characters of local nonconforming guys, half-mad and completely mad. Kachyňa demonstrates his traditional sense of poetry and film atmosphere, although it does not reach the quality of Love Between the Raindrops. It is still above-average filmmaking that the vast majority of today's titles do not come close to. Overall impression: 75%.

Blízký soumrak (2015) (Tévéfilm)

angol From a craftsmanship perspective, I would have to give a lower rating, maybe even lower than just by 1 star, because this explosive material deserves much more careful processing. However, I appreciate the theme and the message. That is because it is not just an image of the demise of one community and one confession in a certain country, it is primarily a testimony about us and our inability to help and empathize. When someone is ashamed of their representatives, I add that the Archbishop's statement sounded equally embarrassing and impotent. He was just more polished. But where prayers are offered, a completely different type of support should be in place in this case. It is incredibly embarrassing that a country that has had poor birth rates for decades, which threaten its economic prosperity and cultural and physical future, cannot offer a new home to a few thousand refugees, especially when they are exceptionally well-educated on a global scale. For several months now, Czechs have been having a hysterical campaign against Muslim migration and usually make it a point to emphasize that we are not concerned with anything else but defending Christian values. The desperate situation of the Christian community has lasted for about 12 years, and during that time, neither state institutions nor non-governmental organizations have been able to bring in a single immigrant. It is more than clear that there is no place for Iraqi Christians in today's Iraq, and there never will be. The 153 unfortunate people who managed to come to come here thanks to a handful of activists, after tremendous lobbying and persuading, are rather a mockery because our ability to absorb immigrants is many times greater every year...

Blöff (2000)

angol After the unexpected, but well-deserved success of the film Lock, Stock and Two Smoking BarrelsGuy Ritchie received a hefty sum from the producers and was able to hire a few internationally proven stars alongside his own discoveries for his next rough gangster comedy, thus raising the overall production value. At the same time, due to the larger budget, the director paid more attention to the script, making the plot more understandable and enjoyable for the audience, despite its numerous twists, characters, and motifs. Once again, fans were treated to an incredible collection of quotes, vulgarities, criminal characters, bizarre situations, and plot twists - exactly what makes Ritchie's masterpiece so enticing. The lines uttered by the (anti)heroes are unbelievable both in terms of slang and content. Brad Pitt receives one of the most beautiful beatings in film history with a somewhat unexpected ending... Positive characters in the traditional sense are naturally absent here, but those who enjoy dark humor, outrageous characters, and a fast pace will definitely be satisfied. Overall impression: 90%.

Blue Jasmine (2013)

angol Jeanette did two things in her life - she changed her name to the romantically sounding Jasmine and seduced a successful businessman. The latter guaranteed her a comfortable life full of shopping, fun, and a sense of importance. Social status meant everything to her and she confirmed it through a series of expensive rituals. One day, along with the fall of her husband, her previous certainties collapse, and, one might say, a sobering up occurs. But alas, Jasmine decides to retreat into a world of illusions. She faces the inevitable incursions of unpleasant reality with hysterical defensive reactions. With her usual self-assurance, she decides to take advantage of her step-sister's goodwill and moves into her apartment. Woody used the same model situation that Tennessee Williams arranged in his famous drama "A Streetcar Named Desire." He directed it elsewhere, though, and certainly doesn't copy the aforementioned title. The film can be simplistically seen as a straightforward critique of snobbery and at the same time as a brilliant acting creation by two great actresses. Alongside the famous Cate Blanchett, the equally talented Sally Hawkins excels, and also has great comedic potential. In the second aspect, Jasmine's character functions as a symbol of the blindness of those who refuse to admit that times are changing and that there are very few things that do not need to adapt to the passage of time. Industrial sectors, social classes, countries, and even entire civilizations find themselves in Jasmine's position and react similarly laughably and dysfunctionally as she does. The film is more of a comedy than a drama. However, it is a bittersweet comedy and one that provokes reflection rather than bursts of laughter. Overall impression: 85%.

Blues Brothers 2000 (1998)

angol Some decisions are difficult to explain rationally. The Blues Brothers once upset me with its undemanding infantile spectacle, and I mercilessly gave the film a very poor review. I don't know what I was expecting to see when I started watching the sequel. Landis has not matured after 20 years and has stuck to straightforward crazy humor that definitely won't occupy more than a few of your nerve cells - and by a few, I truly mean two. Those who liked the first film will not be disappointed. It has the same absence of a meaningful plot, only this time, John Belushi was replaced by John Goodman. For me, it's a complete waste of time and I got the feeling that they completely missed the mark. Overall impression: 25%. If it weren't for a few musical numbers, the level of my despair would be absolute.

Bob a mester (1998) (sorozat)

angol This is an undemanding mainstream animated series for the youngest audience with a slightly didactic focus, which neither in its script nor in its visual execution strays from the boundaries of a mass product intended for the international market. Overall impression: 45%. If nothing else, it at least teaches children that life isn't just fun, but also involves work, and things don't just create themselves. :-)

Bobby Kennedy - A végzetes nap (2006)

angol Bobby is an informal name that suggests that its bearer was liked and had a close relationship with people. Unfortunately, this film is unable to convey this informality of the legend of American politics. The presidential candidate speaks to us only through his speeches, from which quite extensive passages have been selected. I have nothing against big ideas when they are presented in an unobtrusive way. However, here I felt as if the director was somewhat inspired by the famous Oprah Winfrey Show. I do not relate to this method of communication. In my opinion, it is both pathetic and soaked in ingratiating sentiment. The moving music, as the minutes went by, turned into torture. Bobby deserves one star for the idea of depicting the last hours before the assassination through a kaleidoscope of hotel guests and employees, thus using the method that Robert Altman made famous in the United States and another star for the stellar cast and their acting. On the other hand, I felt that some characters were unnecessary and I would like to learn more about others. Overall impression: 45%.
