Magnólia (1999)

angol First and foremost, this film is not as complicated and difficult as it may seem at first glance. But it does have something to it and definitely does not lack originality, inventiveness, many unforgettable scenes and situations, and, last but not least, great performances by almost all of the main actors.

Sky kapitány és a holnap világa (2004)

angol Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow is one of the few movies that doesn't need an extremely strong and elaborate storyline, because it has an excellent form. Retro New York is beautiful and the overall atmosphere is unforgettable.

Fegyverek istene (1992)

angol A pioneer of the action genre, with amazing camera and editing work, revolutionary shooting sequences, long shots without cuts, breathtaking stunt work. Before all the modern Hunts, Bonds, Bournes, and Wicks, there was a detective with a cigarette in his mouth and two guns on his belt who set the direction for what action films would look like decades later.

A falu (2004)

angol The form crushes the content. The phenomenal music, the great cinematography, and the attractive setting mask the film’s vapidness and simplistic script. However, aesthetically, it is so refined that it is worth watching at least once.

A Bourne-csapda (2004)

angol Paul Greengrass delivers a spy thriller full of modern technology, fast cuts, and perfect handheld camera work. The plot is also very fast-paced, dynamic, and above all completely unpredictable. Matt Damon is a great action hero mainly because he doesn't look like a super secret agent at first glance, so you can relate to him much better.

Wimbledon - Szerva itt, szerelem ott (2004)

angol At first glance, Wimbledon looks like another of the many above-average romantic comedies that we have seen plenty of, but unlike most similar films, it has original and unobtrusive humor. Additionally, it takes place in a new and unexplored setting of tennis, which is another big plus. What can be considered a “classic” was the soundtrack, composed of a mix of classic romantic pop songs mainly performed by female interpreters – nothing against it, because overall the film works quite well and that is the main thing.

Aviátor (2004)

angol The Aviator is not Martin Scorsese’s best film and, in my opinion, it doesn't even belong among the best ones. It is beautifully shot, but that's about it. There are plenty of unforgettable scenes, shots, and dialogues, but the end result doesn't have such a strong impact, and there is no deeper emotional experience. Surprisingly, technically, the movie is quite uneven, and sometimes it seems like a farce or an overly theatrical costume drama. Sometimes, I even feel a sense of theater. It's an interesting retro film, but definitely not aiming for an Oscar.

Millió dolláros bébi (2004)

angol A film that impressed me. First and foremost, it's not just a film about boxing, but about a person. As for Hilary Swank, she delivers the best performance I have seen in a very long time, and quite possibly the best female performance ever. Clint Eastwood directs again with his classic style. The film is accompanied by minimal music and takes place in suggestively raw environments, whether it be gloomy corners of hospital rooms or a dark gym. All of this creates an indescribable and unique atmosphere, even though it has a practically ordinary and sometimes predictable screenplay. For me, unequivocally the best film of the year.

Apja lánya (2004)

angol The script doesn’t offer anything new or groundbreaking, but the skillfully built atmosphere and great dialogues save everything. There are also a few scenes that can bring even the most self-doubting person to their knees while watching this cheerful and witty comedy.

Összeomlás (1993)

angol The final effect is even more powerful than Phone Booth. Furthermore, conceptually Free Fall is possibly Joel Schumacher's strongest film. Michael Douglas acts incredibly well, aided by the fact that his role is excellently written. The ending was a bit cliché and disruptive to me, unfortunately, but it can be endured.
