A titánok harca (2010)

angol This remake of a famous fantasy adventure can’t even hold a candle to its 30 year older predecessor. The film is packed with action, but everything seems too fast, without emotion, without thought and, most importantly, without suspense. Those who were looking forward to the thrilling duels with Medusa and the Kraken will be disappointed, because this duo, who managed to create so much tension in the original version, are not much more than a blink in the story and you don't even get to enjoy them properly. Also, Sam Worthington, with his charisma, is unable to fulfil the role of the fearless and valiant son of the ruler of the gods and please the female part of the audience. In short, everything is bad... 35%.

Féktelenül 2: Teljes gőzzel (1997)

angol Maybe I'm nuts, but I'm always entertained by this typically American action flicks. It's got pace, plenty of humour and an insight that adds even more pizzazz to the already entertaining action scenes. As far as the actors are concerned, Sandra Bullock comes across a bit over the top, as almost always, but her comedy hits the spot in all the "suspenseful" scenes. Of course, the film’s biggest asset is the nasty villain played by the charismatic Willem Dafoe, who could have easily carried the whole thing on his own. And the final ride through the city is simply amazing! I'm not saying, and I doubt, that you'll like Speed 2, but you shouldn't be bored watching it either. 50%.

A gépész (2004)

angol A very powerful and depressing film that relies mainly on Christian Bale's acting and looks. The director dictates the pace brilliantly and with the gloomy atmosphere he manages to keep the viewer in the highest tension and alertness for an hour and a half. The screenplay doesn't fool around, either, it's purposeful all the way through and the ending, even though it may be guessed ahead of time, is an excellent and exciting conclusion to this outstanding and original thriller.

Titokzatos folyó (2003)

angol Once again, Clint works flawlessly with human emotions, from love to pure hatred, but this time it's not so much to his credit as to all the excellent actors who play such an atmospheric and chillingly patient game that the depressing finale made me want to scream and quickly shake it all off. Unfortunately, the compelling and simply-framed psychological storyline fights too hard for attention with the detective plot, which rings a bit hollow and is ultimately not as crucial to the story as the frequency of all the interrogations and new leads might suggest. Other than the aforementioned finale, there aren’t any wow-sequences that would be permanently etched in our memories, the kind Eastwood usually delivers aplenty in his masterpieces, so I have no choice but to bring up Sean Penn and Tim Robbins again, without whom this time it wouldn't have been quite the same – but Clint probably knew who to cast :))) 80%

Tremors 2. - Ahová lépek, ismét szörny terem (1996)

angol The first one is great, the second one is alright. If you want to switch into minimal brain effort mode and enjoy B-movie sci-fi full of nasty subterranean monsters, hyperbole and Michael Gross, aka the most hilarious variation on Tacklebarry, this is the film for you. The stupid script full of clichés is par for the course. 60%

Marhakonzerv-akció (1991)

angol Two amazing actors in a likeable spy comedy that, with its imaginative humour, can easily beat the vast majority of similar American extravaganzas. It radiates so much liveliness and vigour throughout that you can easily forgive the bland ending, which, on the contrary, missed the effect with its frenzy... 80%

Tremors - Ahová lépek, szörny terem (1990)

angol Tremors is an unpretentious and entertaining B-movie that boasts interesting aliens and a very likeable duo of protagonists. You won't see nasty shots or horrifying scenes, but you will enjoy plenty of really entertaining and brisk action accompanied by a lot of hilarious catchphrases, which for me is exactly the right mix for 4*.

Más világ (2001)

angol From the opening minutes you’ll be impressed by the oppressive environment and the atmosphere of a large and dark house, and even though the film moves at a very slow pace, you’ll remain sitting in your chair as if nailed, waiting for the big and dark thing that is inevitably getting closer and closer. The Others doesn't just induce terror through cheap jump-scares or gruesome apparitions, but rather, the director slowly and cleverly pushes the envelope throughout, playing with suspenseful scenes and managing to strike at the most unexpected moment. And the final twist, which I was really curious about, managed to surprise and shock me. But I was too at a loss for a full rating.

Ördögűzés Emily Rose üdvéért (2005)

angol This unorthodox horror film is elevated by the decent performances and Christopher Young’s excellent music. A few eerie shots, especially in the first half, successfully try to establish a sense of mounting tension and dread, but as the trial comes into focus, we are no longer watching the ghost story we expected, but an ambitious psychological drama that tries to impress the viewer as much as possible with the fact that this actually happened. But that doesn't change the fact that Scott Derrickson is obviously a very skilled filmmaker who can portray even a trial more than engagingly, and the film, despite its length, passes like water. And I mustn't forget to highlight the performance of Jennifer Carpenter, whose gestures and tortured looks really gave me chills and who managed to increase the momentum and authenticity of this unpolished work.
