Csonttörő - A bosszú arctalan (2000)

angol Bruiser seems to generally not be well-received, but to me, George A. Romero showed through it that he can direct other films that won't just be about zombies that have overrun the land. I had a good time with the film and was curious to see how each character would end up. Not all deaths are overly inventive, but that's because Henry is somewhat finding himself. The last, almost bonus scene, put a smile on my face.

A Kind of Murder (2016)

angol I really like Patrick Wilson, and I'm glad I discovered him through Watchmen. But even though he tries his best in A Kind of Murder, and even though the camera only reveals what intrigues us, the film ultimately proves to be empty, lacking that punch that would grab you and knock you out. It's a shame, as otherwise, it's well-stylized and well-acted.

The Eve of St. Mark (1944)

angol If nothing else, this film is worth watching because it features Vincent Price in one of his early roles. And even though he is not the main character, he manages to draw all the attention to himself with his dry humor and incredible voice, so that you almost don't even notice that you are watching a war film that is perhaps unnecessarily romantic.

The Doctor's Dilemma (1959)

angol A very successful film, where at first it seems like just a bit of stretched drama full of dialogue, but once Dirk Bogarde fully engages in his performance, it works, and it becomes very intense, especially in comparison to the character portrayed by Leslie Caron. It's not as naive as it seems, but I was expecting a bigger impact at the end.

Tarzan and the Leopard Woman (1946)

angol The villainous character played by the leopard woman is quite well developed here, but her potential is definitely not fully utilized, and it's more about just setting someone else against Tarzan. Boy is already too big here, but another youngster from the jungle makes things a bit more interesting. Overall, rather average within the series.

The Divided Heart (1954)

angol Although it's a post-war film that focuses on the war, it's certainly not as shallow as it might seem. The war is the starting point for a situation where a young boy, although unknowingly, is torn between two mothers. I'm not saying I think the finale is good in its resolution, but it is a well-acted film with a great premise.

Canterbury mesék (1972)

angol Pier Paolo Pasolini chose an interesting stylization for the film, where at times you feel like it could be some kind of loose Shakespearean comedy, even though the film definitely lacks the literary qualities for that. It's a bit daring, controversial perhaps not so much, but in terms of plot, I found it extremely boring, and I didn't enjoy watching the film.

The Denver Kid (1948)

angol A classic western where a lot happens through dialogue, and in the end, the problem gets resolved. It's not particularly groundbreaking in any aspect, the good guys are really good, regardless of what the public may think, truth prevails, and evil is defeated. A standard model that doesn't really stand out in this respect. It will neither impress nor offend.

A megölhetetlen (2016)

angol "Don't Kill It" basically plays on three basic things. The first is the presence of Dolph Lundgren. That works for me. The second thing is camaraderie, this time between a man and a woman, which also works. The third element is entertainment, which is more evident in the way the characters die than in the humor. Yes, it's rich in violence, but unfortunately, most of it is done using digital effects, which diminishes the enjoyment. I still had a good time with it. Undemanding, simple.

Delavine Affair (1955)

angol A fairly enjoyable film with a touch of noir-style, but there's a bit more levity here than necessary. The story is pretty straightforward and the reveal isn't particularly effective, but the characters of the journalist and his companion are fine enough to carry you through to the end. A bite-sized hour.
