Szellemirtók - Az örökség (2021)

angol A laid-back movie that mainly encourages you to watch the two preceding two parts. All of the characters are just great, likeable and well-acted. The central heroine with the face of Mckenna Grace is just wonderful. The wonderfully well-depicted nerdy outsider status with young side-kick Logan Kim carries Ghostbusters along with him in amazing way. Raitman decided for a Stranger Things type atmosphere, and he was right, because they are - you have to admit it - almost the same thing.  Then he added the Ectomobile and some other contraptions from the original Ghostbusters. The ending is more like a big cameo show/farewell (which hardened fans will certainly appreciate) than a full-blooded conclusion. The attempt at a different approach takes it down a little, but I understand that without it everybody would be disappointed.

Tulajdonosok (2019)

angol An hour and a half of concentrated depression. I didn’t see the play, but it must have made you think about ending it all after seeing it. The acting’s great, apart from some minor exaggeration and (in my eyes rather forced) attempts at humor, but this is popular with the viewers, so I quite understand. I was surprised how realistic the portrayal of the owners was, and I would have gone for a more vicious ending, causing greater catharsis.

Mátrix: Feltámadások (2021)

angol An entertaining and surprisingly current coronavirus continuation. Reaction to the third Matrix will depend heavily on how much the viewers took the original trilogy, because the Wachowski sister keeps on making unhidden fun out of it from beginning to end. It mocks human sheep who want just to get on an enjoy life: why won’t the powers that be just leave them alone? It also ridicules the fact that this sequel was even being made, admitting that it was only for the money. Oh, and for love, love too. The special effects and action sequences are only mediocre, but the fights are at least quite easy to follow. All the revolutionary things that were so jaw-dropping in the first movie are now simply ordinary, expected, or else made fun of. The second half of this picture is rather headless chicken and a lot of things from it need explaining. I thought this movie lacked an overall message, but on the other hand I quite enjoyed watching this self-reflective or even cynical period to the series.

Cyborg - A robotnő (1989)

angol Movies with pandemics now have completely different relevance. :-D The baddie with blue eyes could simply be any shareholder of a corporation that makes vaccine. Otherwise, this is the epitome of a B-movie, with an atmosphere reminiscent of Mad Max and pretty good fights, but the story left such a strong impression on me that this morning I no longer know how it ended. P.S.: Van Damme with a paintball gun in his hand is just perfect.

Ne nézz fel! (2021)

angol A well-fed DiCaprio strides in for another Oscar. A rather shaky, but occasionally unexpectedly realistic picture with a powerful message which shows where we have got to and how bad things are. We could just laugh, but McKay really wanted to terrify us. A modern horror wrapped in cynical humor and dispassion. Showing us prime examples of bad decisions that are constantly being made today on a regular basis. This is filmed for dumb people too.

Hawkeye (2021) (sorozat)

angol Happy Holidays! A lightweight, enjoyable snack, nicely following up on and complementing events at Marvel. Renner is excellent and passes the baton on to a thrilled Hailey Steinfeld. Bishop has the balls to be in the Avengers, but it remains to be seen who else Feige will cast in the movies. It’s good to see Yelena and Wilson here and their appearances are meant to be the high points of the series. But it turns out that the real high point is the chase through the streets of New York with the souped-up darts. The series is worth watching for this alone. We're all gonna die.

Vaják - Season 2 (2021) (évad)

angol A lot weaker than the first season. The first episode is great, but then it all starts going downhill. Political intrigue, sudden changes of direction, some unimportant people discussing the war and I fell asleep. Geralt and Ciri are super. Well-acted characters. The rest are a bit boring, as a rule. The dialogs are very stiff, dumbly pointing out things that would have been obvious with a better screenplay. The action is fine, but there is too little of it. The production design is great and the monsters intriguing. I am reading the book and it seems the creators aren’t being faithful to it; maybe next season. Just look at what happened to Game of Thrones when the creators began improvising.

South Park: Post COVID: The Return of COVID (2021) (Tévéfilm)

angol All’s well that ends well. Compared to the dark depression of the last movie, there is much more humor here. Obsession with NFTs, McCormicron, Space Jam 2. The most interesting character remains Cartman and his storyline where the motive of saving his own family by killing Kyle makes its appearance. Parker and Stone pile up absurdity on absurdity of our world, making the viewer laugh hysterically, but in fact it is all much more serious than we realize.

Pókember - Nincs hazaút (2021)

angol Loser Parker heads for happiness and for the good of everybody else. A grand finale with all the trimmings. Bringing magic into Spider-Man means lots of impressive scenes with villains we know and love, but the high point is jumping around in the mirror dimension. Arrivals from older series pump nostalgia into your veins, making fans’ dreams come true, and they all seem much better than in their original appearances. Demonic Dafoe’s acting is on a higher level even than first time round and his Goblin as Parker’s trainer is the biggest trump card. No Way Home is full-on to bursting (it really features almost everybody you can think of) and sometimes it seems a shame that the movie isn’t any longer, despite the fact that in some places it drags on rather slowly. This lure to watch the sequel to Dr. Strange, who screwed up badly last time, heightens expectations to the limits of our universe and maybe even beyond.

Shoky & Morthy: Poslední velká akce (2021)

angol A glimmer of hope for Czech cinema... Kozub and Štáfek drift through today’s pulp online inspiration unscathed, poking fun at it in a way that makes you laugh out loud. Andy Fehu has a feel for comic timing and lets Kozub improvise when needed, like he does in his YouTube show Three Tigers, but manages occasionally to calm him down a little. The journey to find the dead bride, combined with the story of disintegrating friendship pulls another ace out of its purse in the form of Magnus’ "Master of the Shits" which presents YouTubers in their full glory. It’s been a while, but at last a really amusing Czech movie. P.S.: It even made it to Netflix, which is a triumph for the main protagonists.
