Tři vejce do skla (1937)

angol Burian's return after a nearly two-year hiatus was good commercially. The exoticism game is a little too strong, but what more can you ask for, when Novotný had already worked in Hollywood? Also, the film features Helena and Míla, and that makes up for everything.

Světlo jeho očí (1936)

angol The most interesting thing about the film is its reception in the most popular magazine at the time. In addition to the titular Zita Kabátová, the film also made the career of Nancy Rubens (making her debut as Lola Janečková), and Dohnal only reinforced his lover status of the time. Together with Steimar, they then just repeated their proven tricks from ND. The star also added a trio of readers to the film in Mary Šlégrová, Lída Ondrová and R. Bačáková, who played the smaller roles of Helena, Micky, and the doctor.

Ulička v ráji (1936)

angol In order to have a full understanding, I also recommend watching the German version with Hans Moser. This is in fact a rare mirror version, which was always made only if the same director took on all the language versions. In the Czech version, equally worth admiring are Haas, Jedlička, Štěpánek, Svozilová, Vítová, Dohnal, and also Kabátová and Oličová. On their small/big dramas is based an enlightened melodrama responding to a world cinema theme that will forever be associated primarily with Chaplin's The Kid.

Uličnice (1936)

angol Slavínský only managed to set up Věra Ferbasová and Jirka Dohnal as a couple in several older films through their random meeting. It's a wonder that with his spectator's sense of smell, he hadn't thought of it earlier, because the idea was downright lucky. Minx was a film tailored to the temperament of the restless Věra and Jiří was gaining experience next to her. It’s a comedy full of excellent jokes and gags, freshened up with an airplane setting and a stuttering actor, and that is something I can watch all the time.

Studentská máma (1935)

angol I really enjoyed this film quite recently, but then it suddenly became a frightening example of Slavic language. I'm sticking to my guns - it's funny and appropriately naive to just the right extent.

Hegylakó (1986)

angol A nice start to an even better fandom. Today, it’s an old hit, which I return to regularly, although I found it almost unwatchable after the year 2000. There's no point in addressing which formal aspects have aged and which haven't, or that the perfect happy ending virtually eliminated the possibility of a sequel. There are sequels and not all the ideas are bad. Queen's great soundtrack also helped a lot and of course so did the cast. "In the end, there can be only one."

Highlander: The Raven (1998) (sorozat)

angol A great spin-off with the only possible main character to follow up Adrian Paul's excellent series. Elizabeth Gracen had established herself in previous years as the very popular supporting character Amanda, but unfortunately for the show itself her character was changed. To be clear, she's still the most entertaining immortal, but surrounded by new sidekicks she had to do it all again from the beginning. She's been given a polished image, a new mythology, an older friend, and a cop. For the first few episodes, the series was trying to find its style, and by the end of the series, I could only regret that the series was not given the green light for a sequel. Those who have doubts about my high rating should understand that I watched it in its original form and not as a rerun on Czech TV.

Hegylakó 3. - A mágus (1995)

angol The Sorcerer is definitely not one of Highlander's worst films. Deborah Kara Unger and Mario Van Peebles were never able to act decently, but knowing the imbalance of the entire film series, it's not that bad of an experience. As usual, the flashbacks are one of the better aspects.

Hegylakó (1992) (sorozat)

angol For six glorious years, Highlander was one of the top shows of the 1990s. Today, even after waking up from nostalgia, to its credit, it still works very well. In the early years after 2000, it seemed that it would continue to be unwatchable, but 10 years later, it appeared to have proven its patina sufficiently. It’s a quality multi-genre series that easily outshines all the films, including the first one. It features a plethora of interesting stories, main and secondary characters, ideas of all kinds... this is exactly how I imagine a job well done. I watch the reruns regularly.

Hrdinný kapitán Korkorán (1934)

angol Vlasta Burian and his classic uniformed hero on his way to the 20th century. While we follow the escapades of the contemporary Adam Korkorán, who, by chance, passes himself off as a retired corvette captain, the real veteran of the proverbial Krieagsmarine finds himself perplexed.
