John Butler

In 2012, John Butler directed and co-wrote The Bachelor Weekend, an Irish Film Board funded feature film starring Andrew Scott and Peter McDonald. Also in 2012, he directed Immaturity for Charity starring Brendan and Domhnall Gleeson. His debut novel The Tenderloin was published by Picador in 2011 and was short-listed at the Irish Book Awards.

He directed and co-wrote the IFTA award winning sketch show Your Bad Self for RTE, also in 2011. His short story First & First was short-listed for the 2011 Francis McManus Award and he wrote and co-directed the award-winning George, co-wrote the award-winning Spaceman Three and directed The Ballad of Kid Kanturk (winner at Salento and San Francisco Festivals), all for the Irish Film Board. John has directed award-winning commercials and documentaries, and his writing has appeared in The Irish Times, The Dublin Review, The San Francisco Chronicle and on NPR.
