Born in 1987 in Murmansk, Russia, Semyon Serzin is a theatre, film director and actor in many different projects throughout the country. In 2011, after graduation from the Russian State Institute of Performing Arts, Saint-Petersburg, in parallel with his active and productive theatre life, he debuted on screen in a criminal TVseries and later in his first feature film Cilveki Tur/Lyudi tam (People there). After seeing Semyon in Cilveki Tur, Kirill Serebrennikov invited him to play in his feature film Leto, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2018. In 2020, almost simultaneously, two other films - Pobochnyi effekt (Side Effect), a Russian horror starring Semyon, and Chelovek iz Podolska (A Man from Podolsk), Semyon’s debut as a film director, - were released. Both films received critical acclaim in Russia.
