Tizza Covi

Tizza Covi and Rainer Frimmel both studied photography at the Vienna Higher College for Graphic Art. In 2001, they directed Das ist alles, a documentary, before founding their production company Vento Film in 2002. In 2005, their next film Babooska won the Wolfgang Staudte Award at the Berlin International Film Festival. La pivellina (2009), their first fiction film, was awarded the Europa Cinemas Label at the Directors' Fortnight in Cannes and was Austria's official entry for the Academy Awards in 2011. In 2012, Der Glanz des Tages was selected for Locarno where it won the Leopard for Best Actor as well as a Special Mention from the Œcumenical jury.
