Wolf Eckart Bühler was born in Hamburg. He studied literature and theater studies in Munich and was the editor and co-editor of the magazine Filmkritik. He worked as a writer, director and producer (at Red Harvest Film) of cinema and television films, including Pharos of Chaos (1983), Der Havarist (1984, together with Manfred Blank) and the docu-drama Amerasia (1986). He has been travelling extensively for years, the more unpredictable the better, between San Francisco and San Salvador, Ouagadougou and Djibouti and preferably between Bombay and Bali.
