The Swiss director Carmen Jaquier studied graphic design before shooting her first short film Bouffe moi ! (2004) and enrolling at the Ecole Cantonale d'Art de Lausanne. Her graduation film Le Tombeau des filles (2011) won the Pardino d'argento at Locarno Film Festival. She went on to work in image and cutting with the Aamen collective. The resulting collective film Heimatland (2015), and her short film La Rivière sous la langue (2015), also screened at Locarno. Her debut feature-length feature film Foudre world premiered at Toronto.
