Jean-Benoît Dunckel studied classical music and piano at the Conservatory of Versailles, before studying mathematics and physical sciences at Orsay University. He was working as a high school teacher when he decided to launch his musical career. Since 1996, he has been one of the two members of the band AIR, the other being Nicolas Godin. Together, they contributed to the legendary musical scores of movies like The Virgin SuicidesMarie Antoinette and Lost in Translation, all directed by Sofia Coppola. In 2003, he created the record production and music publishing company Prototyp Recording, based in Paris. In 2012, he founded the band Tomorrow’s World with Lou Hayter, before releasing a solo album entitled “H+” in 2017. Jean-Benoît Dunckel also recorded an electronic album with Jonathan Fitoussi released in 2019 called “Mirages,” after a meeting between them during the 2018 Venice Biennale orchestrated by Xavier Veilhan.
