Абрам Роом

Soviet film director, scrreenwriter, actor. Graduated from Petrograd neuropsychiatric Institute and the Medical Faculty of the University of Saratov. Taught at the Department of Arts, was prinicipal of the Higher Theatrical Arts workshops and theater director. Headed the Theater of excentric plays. Since 1923, director of the Theater of the Revolution in Moscow, dierctor and teacher at the Higher teaching school of the All-Russian Central Executive Committtee in Moscow. In 1925-1934, teacher of the Institute of Cinematography, associate professor. Since 1924, director of the film studios "Goskino", "Sovkino", "Soyuzkino", Since 1936, director at "Ukrainfilm" film studio. Director of "Mosfilm" film studio since 1940. Holds two Stalin awards (1946, 1949). In 1925-1934 - teacher of the Institute of Cinematography, associate professor.
