Upon graduating NYU’s Tisch Film School, Darren co-wrote and directed his first feature, the Las Vegas road-movie Sparkler. Darren went on to write and direct the dark teen comedy Jawbreaker, which premiered at the 1999 Sundance Film Festival and earned Rose McGowan a nomination for the MTV Movie Award for Best Villain.
