Best known for her celebrated role Elaine O'Connor Nardo on the sitcom NBC's "Taxi," Marilu Henner is a New York Times bestselling author who has been involved in film production, film acting, television acting, and Broadway theatrical productions.
She began her career as Marty in the Kingston Mines production of Grease in 1971. She was one of the original replacements for the Broadway production of "Grease," and she played Marty in the national touring company with John Travolta. Her Broadway work includes "Over Here!," "Pal Joey," "Chicago," and more.
Her first appearance in film was in the 1977 film Between the Lines, alongside Jeff Goldblum. The next year, she appeared in Bloodbrothers with Richard Gere. Since then, she has appeared in 1982's Hammett, 1983's The Man Who Loved Women with Burt Reynolds, and Cannonball Run II. She played opposite Michael Keaton in Johnny Dangerously (1984). In the 1990s, she appeared in the films Noises Off and Man on the Moon. She provided voices for WB's "Batman: The Animated Series," and the subsequent animated films in 1993 and 1998.
In 1993, she hosted a daytime talk show on TLC called "Marilu," and she has written many books on diet and health. A passionate promoter of active, healthy lifestyles, she has reflected this in her appearances on "Shape up Your Life" on Discovery, and PBS's "America's Ballroom Challenge."
