Elle Sofe Henriksen

Elle Sofe Henriksen, born 1984, is from Guovdageaidnu/Kautokeino, Norway. Elle Sofe works with dance, choreography and film.

Elle is engaged in presenting Sami expressions from an insider's perspective to a wider audience through dance and film. She has a Masters degree in choreography from Oslo National Academy of the Arts and BA in Dance at the Laban School in London.

Her dance performances "Jorggáhallan" and "Beatnaga ii galgga gulgii geahččat" has toured nationally and internationally and received excellent reviews.

Elle Sofe has directed dance film "Biegga savkala duoddará duohken lea soames" and the experimental documentary short film "Juoigangiehta / The yoiking hand".

Elle Sofe has done several international collaborative projects, including collaboartion with choreographer Liu Chi (China), composer Wimme (Finland) and writer Lana Hansen (Greenland).

She has participated as a dancer and actor in performances Sajve Sijte, GON and Gïeje by Åarjelhsaemien Theatre (South Sami Theatre). And choreographed theatre performance "Mon lean duhát Jagi" (I am a thousand years) at Giron sámi theater (Sami Theatre in Kiruna, Sweden).
